Great Sheikhs Karmana

It is known that in the formation and development of cities and small settlements in antiquity, spiritual mentors played a special role - people who had dedicated themselves to a great mission and gained recognition from the people. There are such mentors even in the ancient Karmana. Among a number of famous names are Sheikh Hudoidi Wali and Kosim Sheikh Azizon Karminagi.

Sheikh Khudoidi Wali (1461-1532) lived during the period of the reign of Sultan Abu Said, the grandfather of the Temurids descendants - Zahiriddin Muhammad Bobur in a small village east of Karmana. Without belonging to the caste of rulers, aristocrat and military commanders, he always stayed among the people, experiencing all the burdens of ordinary people. The rulers of the Shaybanid dynasty in those days repeatedly turned to him for help. Trying to gain its location, they sent gifts, invited to the palace. But Hazrat Khuidoidi usually returned them or distributed them to the poor. He lived according to the principle of Al Fakrunfah Rune, which means "my poverty is my pride."

In his deeds, Sheikh Khudoi Wali always based on the wisdom of the spiritual teachers of Khoja Ahmad Yassavi and Sulayman Bokirgoni. The prizes brought the people to faith, love and mutual understanding, and the rulers - to justice, mercy and peace. His knowledge, but along with the worldview, was not formed under the influence of books and teachings. He was closer to direct communication with people, observation. The basics of the Sufi theories, telling each person to follow the right path, he learned from life experience. In many historical documents that have come down to our times, there is evidence of the good deeds of the sheikh in the interests of the people.

In the second half of the XVI century, thanks to the merits of the statesman Abdullakhan II (1557-1598), Bukhara became the capital, and the adjacent territories, including the Karmana inheritance, developed. Kosim Sheikh Azizon (1500–1578) contributed to the political success of this process.

He was a follower of the teachings of Khoja Ahmad Yassavi. Information about his activity is perpetuated in such works as “Lamohat min nafakhot al-Kuds” by Hazrat Loim Sheikh Azizon, “Tazkiratul-avliyo” by Muhammad Tahir Eshon Khorezmi, “Tukhfat az zoirin” by Sayyid Muhammad Nosiriridin.

In the well-known work in historical circles “Muzakkir al-Akhbob” by Hasanhoji Nisari, this great man states the following: “Kosim Sheikh Azizon denied the body and perfected the theory of the superiority of the spirit over the physical body. And now, with the help of his miraculous power, he helps the guardians, eases their suffering, and, together with the angels, helps the souls from this sinful world to get into the world of spiritual perfection".

He received people in the chief honakokh, located on the border territory of the Karmana. And everyone who came here found peace and tranquility. For some time Khasanhoji Nisari was here. Together with Kosim Sheikh, who became his mentor, he discussed the meaning of the greatness of the instructions of Allah and mercy towards those whom he created.


Nowadays the nobility of this theologian from Sogd became the property of the whole nation. As noted in the historical sources, thanks to the actions of Kosim Sheikh, peace and tranquility reigned in the territory of all nearby lands. He opposed the oppression of tax collectors, helped in every way to eliminate injustice and violence, the consequences of conflicts between rulers. This is what is said in another well-known work “Abdullanome”, written by Hofiz Tanish Bukhari: “He tried to unite the whole society, create a comfortable life for all segments of the population, dreamed of peace in the country and was ready to provide generosity and graciousness for all who addressed him. "

He passed away from a serious illness. Being constantly among people and sharing with them all the hardships, I could not avoid infection by the plague. He was buried next to his knohaka.

Currently, Uzbekistan has created the necessary conditions for studying the works and commemorations of the acts of ancestors, who left a significant mark in the history of the Uzbek people, including representatives of the clergy, among whom special honor was received Sheikh Khudoidi Wali and Kosim Sheikh Azizon Karminagi. Thanks to the measures taken to revive the spiritual heritage in Uzbekistan, tremendous work was carried out on the reconstruction and arrangement of burials. And today, the burial places, the territories where these revered people have lived and worked for more than one century have been included in the register of unique historical sites, and for those who want to touch the great spiritual truths, they have become places of pilgrimage.
